Reported Events

  1. Wine & Cheese / Meet the Board, 01/20/2008
    Organized by Hilar Puskar

Wine and cheese/meet and greet the Board: held at Hillars house. The event went really well and there were 17 people in attendance.

Future Events and Issues

  1. Club Dues

Send out a dues reminder (email) to club area. Last years dues collected $830; we have $480 so far this year. Melissa will write a one-paragraph mid-year report to go along with the email. Currently there is $2864 in the treasury.

  2. Patriot League happy hour
    March 27

Rose and Guenter are organizing a March 27th Patriot League happy hour at the Mission Grill (www.themissiongrill.com) scheduled for 6-9 pm. The plan is to collect $5 cover towards appetizers; the club will front $100 for this. The Mission Grill will have drink specials. They have contacted all 7 schools, and the event is for all alums, not targeted to a specific age group.

  3. Lights of Liberty Walking Tour
    April/June

Melissa will organize the Lights of Liberty walking tour (www.lightsofliberty.org). They start for the season on March 27, the walks get later each month as the days get longer. Maybe the event will include dinner beforehand there are some restaurants that are associated with the walk.

  4. Special Olympics Swim Meet
    April 5

Special Olympics swim meet to be held at Widener University in Chester. Andrew will be the point person on this.

  5. Patriot League Networking
    May 7 or 14

Guenter is organizing a Patriot league networking event. This would be in the suburbs, likely King of Prussia (Maggianos?) or Conshohocken (weve done events at the Boathouse in the past). We might try some speed-networking. Can we get a speaker from the University? Promote it at the March happy hour, and ask the other schools' clubs for $100 to subsidize the food.

  6. Freshman Sendoff
    Late July

Is Tom Ramsey willing to host it again?

  7. Morris Arboretum Concert
    Summer

The Morris Arboretum (www.business-services.upenn.edu/arboretum/) has outdoor concerts on several weeks in the summer (this idea came up at the wine & cheese). Hillar will look into having an event at one of these concerts; it would likely just consist of somehow staking off or coordinating a corner for alums to meet bring your blanket and a bottle or 2 of wine!

  8. Rosenbach Library Event
    September

Michael suggested holding an event at the Rosenbach Library (www.rosenbach.org) on Delancy Street (by Rittenhouse). It was voted the top museum and library in Philly. This would likely be scheduled for a Sunday afternoon. We can rent out a room (holds 30 people) for $300 and this includes a house tour. Could we get a speaker from the University?

  9. Lehigh/Lafayette Golf Tournament
    September

Hillar is speaking with his Lafayette contact regarding a joint LU-LC golf outing. For a bigger turnout, it could be made into a Patriot League event. The Lafayette contact would like to make this a charity event, meaning to charge extra (not clear how much) and donate that to a cause, perhaps pediatric cancer.

  10. Hayride
    October

Melissa will organize a hayride again for the 3rd year in a row.

  11. Cézanne Art Museum Exhibit
    Spring 2009

Next spring the Art Museum will have a Cézanne exhibit. We should plan for an event.

  12. Cézanne Art Museum Exhibit
    Spring 2009

Next spring the Art Museum will have a Cézanne exhibit. We should plan for an event.

  13. Next Board Meeting

The next meeting will be a teleconference on March 12 at 7:00 PM. The April meeting will be in person.
