Reported Events
- Lehigh/Lafayette Center City Telecast, 11/17/2007
Organized by Andrew Hartmann
www.barristersbar.comTwenty Lehigh alumni met at the Center City Barristers Bar & Grille, although there was a stronger Lafayette showing. Some alumni sent an email afterwards saying they were grateful that there was a downtown event. The Lehigh Club of Philadelphia wants to thank Lehigh for providing goodies for the handouts and raffles.
- Lehigh Lafayette Suburban Telecast, 11/17/2007
Organized by Hillar Puskar
www.generallafayetteinn.comThe General Lafayette Inn hosted eight Lehigh alumni and many more Lafayette alumni. There was a bit of a miscommunication, as the local Lafayette club president was unaware that Lehigh was going to participate as well, and the Lafayette side was not too thrilled. Monica Timar will follow up with Jamie, head of the Lafayette club, to ensure smoother cross-school event planning in the future.
- Philabundance, 12/08/2007
Organized by Andrew Hartmann
www.philabundance.org16 out of 25 alumni who signed up for the event came out to volunteer from 9am to noon for Philabundance. The volunteers spent most of their time packaging things for storage, and the event was well-received by all participants. Many alumni also expressed interest in the next volunteer opportunity, which will probably be the Special Olympics this Spring. Joann Giangiulio will look into the actual date of that event.
Future Events and Issues
- Wine & Cheese Party
Hillar Puskar will be hosting the wine and cheese party at his house. The board proposed setting the event for January 20th from 2-4pm, and Hillar will confirm the date/time. This event will be an opportunity for potential board members to meet the current board and learn about the various activities in which the club participates. The board decided that the next meeting would be held immediately following the wine & cheese party at 4pm. Also to note: the invitation should include a request for attendees' phone numbers so they can be contacted in the event of inclement weather.
- Patriot League Networking Reception
Rose Caruso spoke to the manager of the Mission Grille (www.themissiongrill.com), and he said he would be happy to accommodate the club for the networking reception. Guenter Wesch and Rose will coordinate. The event will most likely be held in mid/late March.
- Listserv Issues
Due to issues with the listserv, a new Yahoo group was created (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/phillyBOD/). Club members should sign up for the group to ensure delivery of club emails. To subscribe to the new group, simply send an email to phillyBOD-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. To send emails to the group, simply address phillyBOD@yahoogroups.com after subscribing. There are currently 10 members who joined the Yahoo group.
- Club Dues
The club has only collected about $300 in dues this year, as compared to about $800 last year. The board wants to be sure to remind club members of dues for the upcoming year.
- Next Board Meeting
The next meeting is scheduled for January 20th at 4:00PM at Hillar Puskar's house (immediately following the wine & cheese party).
