Board Meeting Minutes - Tuesday 4/13/10

University Business:

Constitutional Center event in late March 2010:
--Not well-attended - 54 people RSVP'd--31 in attendance. No Board members were present at the event. Going forward, in the future, we could use $$ from the $1000 Lehigh gives the Club to cover costs of Board members to attend. Attendance has been low nationally at all alumni events.

Club Newsletter:
Club newsletter went out. Two people interested in possibly joining the Board. Joann will follow-up and invite these alumni to next Board meeting (in person).

On Campus Volunteers:
Lehigh is seeking volunteers to come to campus on 5/22/10 to act as parade marshalls. Each marshall is assigned to a class and helps gets the class organized. If anyone is interested, contact Monica.

Senior Sendoff:
Nancy Merritt discussed an event on 4/22/10 on campus--a "Senior Sendoff." All seniors are invited to a reception, where they will be introduced to the alumni association. Event was 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. We offered to buy soft pretzels; not sure if dining services will allow.

Mural Tour:
Mike Glasheen discussed organizing a Philadelphia Mural Arts Tour, possibly first or second Sunday in June. The bus tour is $695. We can cancel up to a few weeks before. We would need 30 people at approx. $25/person. Tour leaves from the Bourse. Mike will investigate dates further.

Freshmen Sendoff:
Late July or early August at Tom Ramsey's house. In Mid-May, Monica will contact Tom re: a date for this event.

2nd Annual Happy Hour at the Shore:
Joann will look into organizing this event again.

Volunteer Event:
Joann is investigating a Fall volunteer event with Baptish Children's Services on 10/2/10. We will paint or do tasks around a home or orphans/disadvantaged boys in Southwest Philadelphia.

Linvilla Hayride:
Melissa is organizing this annual event. She is planning these event for Sat . 10/9/10, with a rain date on 10/16/10.

Board Wine and Cheese:
Hillar has again offered to open his home for this event on Sunday 11/7/10.

Lehigh/Lafayette:
We will need to man two posts. Game is at Lafayette. Last year, Justin covered at The General Lafayette in suburbs and Andrew covered the event in the City.

Volunteer Event-January 2011:
Andrew will try to coordinate a date for early January 2011 (with a snow date...)
