Lehigh Club of Philadelphia - Board Meeting Minutes?Tuesday, May 4, 2010 (6:45PM) Saltz, Mongeluzzi, Barrett and Bendesky 1650 Market St, Philadelphia, PA In Person: Bill Bennett, Ted Dufresne, Jen Fuges, Joann Gianguilio, Andrew Hartmann, Carrie Piraino On Call: Diana Colahan, Melissa Glozman, Monica Timar University Business: Commencement The Commencement speaker this year will be Elie Wiesel. Lehigh is currenty arranging to the speech streamed live on the internet. Lehigh Lawyers Association: Will be hosting an event at Caesar, Rivise, Bernstein, Cohen & Pokotilow in Philadelphia on May 26th. Philadelphia Ale and Arts Tour (Thursday, June 10): Mike Glasheen has arranged this event in conjunction with World Café Live, the Mural Arts Program and Yards Brewery. The event costs $30/person and requires a minimum of 25 people and the maximum that can be accommodated is 40. The following is the schedule: - 6:15PM Arrive at World Café Live - 6:45PM Leave on 45 minute trolley tour of Philadelphia Murals - 7:30PM Arrive at Yards Brewery for beer tasting - 8:15PM Return to World Café Live for light refreshments Dad Vail Lehigh Crew Event (Friday, May 7): There will be a happy hour at Public House from 7 to 10PM sponsored by the Lehigh University Rowing Club Lehigh Home Club Golf Outing (Monday, May 10): The Lehigh Home Club is hosting a golf outing on May 10. The Philadelphia area alumni received invitations to the event. 2nd Annual Happy Hour at the Shore: Jen Fuges will make calls to see if any Lehigh Alumni would be interested in hosting an event at their home or a bar at the Jersey Shore. Freshmen Send-off: Will be hosted by Tom Ramsey again this year. The date has not been picked yet. Melissa volunteered to coordinate the book award. Volunteer Event (Saturday, October 2): Joann is investigating a Fall volunteer event with Baptist Children's Services. We will paint or do tasks around a home or orphans/disadvantaged boys in Philadelphia. Linvilla Hayride (Saturday, October 9/Rain Date October 16): Melissa is organizing this annual event for October 9. Because of alumni requests a rain date will be scheduled this year for October 16. Board Wine and Cheese (Sunday, November 7): Hillar has again offered to open his home for this event on Sunday, November 7 from 2 to 4PM. A board meeting will be held following from 4 to 5PM. Lehigh/Lafayette Football: The game is away at Lafayette this year. One telecast will be hosted this year in Center City Philadelphia. By hosting at one location we hope to increase our attendance. Volunteer Event-January 2011: Andrew will coordinate a Philabundance Volunteer Event again. We will shoot for early January 2011. Future Event Ideas: • Young Alumni Happy Hour – Possible dates of September, in conjunction with Terror Behind the Walls at the Eastern State Penitentiary, or even for Bastille Day (July 14) • Distance Run Event – Broad Street Run, Philadelphia Marathon, etc. NEXT MEETING DATE/CONFERENCE CALL-- Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 6:30PM
